Queen Liliuokalani Long Distance Outrigger Canoe Races 2016
Kai Opua Canoe Club, one of Hawaii’s oldest outrigger canoe clubs, will host crews from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Tahiti, United Kingdom and an estimated 75 crews from the US. Hawaii will be well represented with multiple crews and more than sixty Big Island crews are also expected on the starting line.
Other official Queen Liliuokalani Canoe Race events include Historic Kailua Village Cultural Walk, Paddling Talk Story, Native Artist Fair, Torchlight Parade, Stand-up Paddleboard Race, Alii Challenge and Hulakai OC4 (4 person canoes) Sprint Relay Race.
The 2016 Queen Liliuokalani Long Distance Outrigger Canoe Races are sponsored in part by the Hawaii Tourism Authority, Queen K Tesoro, Corona, OluKai, Ocean Paddler Television, King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, Hulakai and numerous corporate and community donors.
