Outrigger Canoe & Kayaking on Maui
From the seat of an outrigger canoe or kayak, you may find yourself in the spray zone of a humpback whale off West Maui; paddling alongside Hawaiian green sea turtles in Mākena; or exploring the majestic waters of Honolua Bay, a marine reserve famed for its snorkeling. Experienced paddlers can even canoe or kayak to Molokini, a submerged crater three miles off Maui’s southwestern coast that offers more outstanding snorkeling and scuba diving.
You can rent a kayak or outrigger canoe (which typically seat six) from a variety of outfitters in popular areas such as Lāhainā and Kīhei. Or, take a guided tour from a local who can show you the best views and teach you a few tricks of the trade.
