Mauna To Mauna Ultra
The Mauna to Mauna Ultra is the first ever self-supported ultra marathon footrace in the state of Hawaii and only the second ever such race to be held in the USA.
It is a 6 stage, 7 day footrace which will take place on a course which is some 160 miles long and will meander its way across the Island of Hawaii off-road, on trails, cross country and on 4WD tracks.
Competitors will ascend volcanoes, traverse lava flows, rainforest, grasslands and beaches while experiencing extreme altitude and weather changes. Indeed Hawaii Island has 11 of the world's 13 climate zones!
The event is taking place in an ecological paradise and in one of the world's remotest locations enabling participants to see unique flora and fauna - nowhere else can you study such biodiversity and evolution.
And to top it off, competitors will learn about the rich Hawaiian history, culture and language.
