Hanohano O Kona (honoring Kona) Lecture

Travel back in time to 1916 with Integrated Resources Manager/Archeologist Dr. Jadelyn Moniz-Nakamura as she shares the story of the development of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in 'After Dark Out of the Park: The Establishment of Hawaii National Park Historical Slideshow." Dr. Moniz-Nakamura's research interests are pre-contact Hawaiian archeology, specializing in faunal and paleoenvironmental analysis. The 2016 community cultural and historical lecture series, spotlighting local and state speakers, is held at the West Hawaii Civic Center the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. Presented by Kona Historical Society, in cooperation with Hawaii County, this free, public series is a gift from the Society to the community.
